A New Season

Over the last two years, we’ve seen many Black Country churches become more aware of the opportunities available to engage with vulnerable families in their communities. Much of this awareness has come through the work of our Family Champion Sam Knight. During her tenure, Sam has helped to train up and support 30 Families Champions in 25 Black Country Churches. These people serve their individual congregations faithfully by regularly encouraging those in their churches to serve local vulnerable families through the work of our partner charities.

It is with heavy hearts coupled with great happiness for Sam, that we can announce that she will be leaving her role as LBC Family Champion and joining our partner charity Safe Families For Children as their Family Support Manager.  We’re extremely excited about this change of season for Sam and the fact that she’ll still be in contact with many of our Families Champions through her role with Safe Families.

We’re also excited about what this transition means for our work as Love Black Country Families. This is a new season and the next step in our work with families and we believe more than ever that there is a direct link between God’s call for us to “throw our arms around the next generation” and the need to understand, champion and support the role of the family in responding to this call.

Over the next few months we will be developing the job specification for our new Family Champion before we begin our search for who that person may be. Watch this space for updates. In the interim, we will continue to support our existing Families Champions and provide them with the materials they need in order to continue to share with their congregations the needs of vulnerable Black Country Families.

In the meantime, we’d like to thank Sam for her tireless work over the last 2 years and wish her every blessing in her new role. We pray that she will continue to impact those around her with her warmth, love and laughter. She will be greatly missed by us all at Love Black Country.
