Local theatre company produces free online Passion Play for Easter

Saltmine Theatre Company, based in Dudley, are producing an online Easter resource of their Birmingham Passion Play 2019.  Three episodes have been crafted of around 12-14 minutes each.

Coronavirus lock down restrictions have meant that major creativity has been needed in how to produce the content. Actors have been recorded remotely, with professional videographers and technicians creating an audio visual version of the Passion Play, utilising photographs from last year’s performance in Birmingham City Centre.

Rachael Orrell, Saltmine’s Chief Executive, is excited about sharing the resource. “We are doing this as a free resource to share Jesus’ journey to the cross, crucifixion and resurrection.  We will be launching them on YouTube on Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday.”

The videos will be premiered on Saltmine’s YouTube channel from Thursday 9th April.

A short trailer has also been pre-released to give people a flavour of the resource. The scene used is Jesus at Gethsamane.
