Job Vacancy – Teaching Assistant in EYFS – Emmanuel School, Walsall

Job Vacancy – Teaching Assistant in EYFS

(One year fixed term contract)

Emmanuel School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Emmanuel School provides Christian Education for children from Nursery through until their GCSEs.  We aim to provide a broad and balanced Bible-based curriculum for children in every age group.

From September 2022, Emmanuel School is looking to appoint a full time Teaching Assistant who will inspire our children in Early Years, ensuring they make good progress and enjoy learning. The successful candidate needs resilience, strength of character and a professional curiosity in order to support our children’s needs which can be many and varied.  The role involves working to support, and under the guidance of, our Early Years Teacher.  The post may also involve working one to one with children who have additional needs.  Initially, this position is for one academic year but will be reviewed at Easter 2023.  (We are willing to consider a job share arrangement if suitable candidates apply.)

The successful candidate must share our Christian beliefs and be committed to school improvement.  We see our work as a Christian calling and the salary involves a level of sacrifice.  For an application form or to arrange an informal visit, please contact Mrs Ann Kendrick on 01922 635810 or by E-mail at ann.kendrick@emmanuel-walsall.co.uk

The closing date for applications is Friday 20th May 2022.  Interviews are likely to take place week commencing Monday 23rd May 2022.

·       The role will involve contact with children so the successful candidate must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and an enhanced DBS check prior to appointment.
·       Emmanuel School will seek references for short-listed candidates before the interview and will approach previous employers for information to verify particular experience and qualifications.
·       If you are currently working with children, in a paid or voluntary capacity, your employer will be asked about disciplinary offences relating to children, including any for which the penalty time is expired and whether you have been subject to any child protection concerns and if so, the outcome of any enquiry or disciplinary procedure.  If you are not currently working with children but have done so in the past, your previous employer will be asked about those issues.
·       Providing false information is an offence and could result in the application being rejected or summary dismissal if you have been selected and possible referral to the police.
·       Rehabilitation of offenders:  This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020.

This post carries a genuine occupational requirement to be a Christian as defined under the Employment Equality (Religion and Belief) Regulations 2003.
