Job Vacancy: Youth & Children’s Pastor

Youth and Children’s Pastor – Legacy Church, Walsall

We are a community of people from all walks of life and cultures who have one thing in common – we believe that Jesus makes a massive difference to us and our world today. We are a Pentecostal Church, part of Assemblies of God and have been established for over 80 years. We believe in building communities of believers that function and demonstrate the love of God. We believe our lives should always display that we are followers and disciples of Jesus and that people see this by our actions rather than what we say.

We are looking to recruit a Youth and Children’s Pastor to oversee, develop and bring vision to the youth and children’s work of Legacy Church Walsall. This includes youth connect groups, youth clubs and any other youth related activities within the church.

You will be energetic, committed and passionate with a heart for working with young people. You will have the skills to reach and engage with local young people; support and enable a team of volunteers and encourage the spiritual and emotional development of young people. We wish to appoint someone who has the vision and initiative to start new things, and a commitment to children’s and youth ministry as an inclusive part of whole church life. The successful candidate will become a fully committed member of Legacy Church Walsall, actively participating in weekly meetings i.e. connect group and prayer.

We are aiming to start a Friday night youth group in September this year, we already have a group of young people who are keen to attend, and run after school clubs for key stage 1 and key stage 2 children. Our Junior Church runs every Sunday morning during the service and usually has 15-20, 3-11 year olds each week. These activities are currently overseen by a member of the leadership team and staffed by an existing team of church volunteers. In addition to these activities we would be looking for you to develop links with local schools.

The Church is also connected to the Love Walsall movement, which in turn is part of Love Black Country. We actively seek to join with other individuals and Churches to see the Kingdom of God established here on earth as it is in Heaven. You would be expected to build on, and form new connections with other children’s and youth leaders / groups across Walsall and the wider region.

We are looking to recruit someone to work 25 hours per week in the first instance with a chance of this being increased if required.

This is a fixed term post for one year initially, with the potential to extend after review. There is a genuine occupational requirement that the post holder is a committed Christian.

Please note that we can only consider applicants who are already resident and permitted to work in the United Kingdom.
