Faith and Sports Forum

The Faith and Sport Forum will take place on Tuesday 9th July 2019, 10.30am – 2pm.

This forum will act as a bridge between Black Country places of worship and physical activity/wellbeing opportunities to enable more people, families & communities to be active. Through our research and work with partners including places of worship we have identified a clear need to connect the sectors to better understand opportunities for collaboration.

We recognise the importance of places of worship as institutions for worship but also as a place for community cohesion, development and regeneration. Equally, we are aware that not everyone from every community will be able or comfortable in attending traditional sports/physical activity settings.

This is why we would like to bring together places of worship/faith-based groups with Sports/Physical activity providers and strategic partners to explore how we can align.

Details of the forum are as follows:

Date: Tuesday 9th July 2019

Time: 10.30am – 2pm

Venue: Shri Venkateshwara (Balaji) Temple, Dudley Road East, Tividale, Oldbury, West Midlands, B69 3DU

Parking: onsite parking available

The Faith and Sport forum will consist of presentations from guest speakers, strategic partners and sports providers to inform those in attendance of the opportunities that are available across the region. There will be a marketplace for those in attendance to visit various sports/physical activity provider stalls to find out what is on offer for places of worship/faith-based groups locally. There will also be an opportunity to go on a site tour around the wonderful grounds of the Shri Venkateshwara (Balaji) Temple and lunch will also be provided.

If you are a sports/physical activity or health provider and you would like to be involved in the marketplace segment of the event then please do get in touch. Also, if you are aware of any groups that would benefit from this event then please pass on.
