Molineux Sleep Out

For the first time in history, Molineux is opening its doors to welcome supporters to sleep pitchside at the hallowed grounds of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Foundation Sleepout event aims to tackle homelessness within the Wolverhampton community, working with the Good Shepherd to raise awareness and vital funds for those in need.

The event will take place from 7pm until 7am on Friday 15th November. Molineux Sleepout is a campaign launched to raise a target of £30,000 for homelessness and vulnerable housing within the Wolverhampton area.

With Wolves Foundation working in partnership with the Good Shepherd, the aim is to generate more funding to continue to grow the current services provided by the Good Shepherd and the Wolverhampton Wanderers Foundation.

Together, the two intrinsically linked charities intend to split the funding raised from the event equally and reach out to more people that are at risk to homelessness and exclusion.

Through the Molineux Sleepout, the Good Shepherd and the Foundation can launch more session alike ‘Head 4 Health’ and ‘Lets Engage’, and further develop the services and facilities to reach out to the wider community.

Just £15 can provide a hot drink and vital support for 12 people. Your generosity powers our expansion and changes someone else’s life.

Over the last 16 years the Good Shepherd have reached out to thousands of individuals and families living in crisis. At present, the Good Shepherd have 1081 registered service users with 59 different nationalities represented.

There’s a wide age range of people accessing the services from 18 through to 80-years-old. 54 percent are between 26 and 45, but we also have 15 percent over 65 and 12 percent between 18 and 25.

The Good Shepherd provide support and guidance to some of the most vulnerable and marginalised people in the community.

Their main client groups are rough sleepers, people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, families with support needs, people with multiple complex needs, destitute asylum seekers and people with no recourse to public funds.

With the successes of last season, the Foundation continued their good work with adults on projects such as Molineux Memories, X-PERT Diabetes Education, Wolves in the Park and Walking Football, and the initiative to work with more vulnerable adults saw the launch of Head 4 Health in January 2019.

The project aims to improve mental and physical wellbeing in males over the age of 18. It is split into six-week cohorts, where participants attend twice a week in addition to a weekly drop in session where individuals can talk in a safe and relaxed environment.

Now Wolves Foundation and the Good Shepherd combine for the Molineux sleepout, where supporters can take advantage of the pitchside photo opportunities, while tea and coffee will be served within the Paycare Lounge.

It is essential that participants bring sleeping bags, warm clothing, food and drinks for the night ahead.

Each person is asked to raise £100 and pay a registration fee of £25, while all money raised will be split between the Good Shepherd and the Foundation.

If you would like to join former captain Karl Henry in setting up camp for the night in the Stan Cullis Stand, register at tickets.wolves.co.uk or follow Twitter links on @wwfcfoundation.

Alternatively, you might like to book via telephone from 2nd September 2019 on 01902 828366.
