Local church provides alternative to News at Ten

A local Anglican church is offering its parishioners an alternative to the nightly 10 o’clock news broadcasts by live-streaming quiet evening prayer sessions on their church Facebook page.

Christ Church in Lye will be broadcasting nightly prayer, led by Rev. Simon Falshaw, every Monday to Friday at 10pm.

The prayer initiative, called ‘Compline’, takes the format of a short reflective service designed to help people “switch off” from the huge amounts of Coronavirus news which bombards us throughout the day. It is hoped that by praying at the end of the day instead of watching the news, people will be able to “leave the cares and concerns of the day in God’s hands.”

The text for the prayers can also be downloaded from the church website for people who do not use social media.

To listen to ‘Compline’, please visit Christ Church Lye’s Facebook Page or download the text from the church website.
