This Easter, the streets of Dudley will be filled with crowds, laughter and raw emotion as the Passion of Jesus comes to life. At the invitation of Dudley churches there will be two open-air performances of Saltmine Theatre Company’s highly acclaimed contemporary Passion Play.
Friday 19th and Saturday 20th April
12:30pm – 2:00pm
The cast of professional actors will be joined by a community cast, musicians and live band who are integral to making these performances unique to Dudley. Rachael Orrell, the CEO of Saltmine says ‘We are thrilled to be able to re-tell the story of Jesus on the streets. Whatever we believe, this story changed the world and we are excited to bring it to life on our home ground in Dudley this Easter.’
The play is a contemporary retelling of the Easter story. Jesus will arrive on a bicycle by Duncan Edwards Memorial for Palm Sunday. The Last Supper will be held by the Fountain; the trial will be outside the Old Glass House Cafe and the Crucifixion in Coronation Gardens. The audience will then be invited inside Dudley College’s Evolve Theatre for the climax – the Resurrection.
So invite your friends and pray for the Gospel to spread throughout Dudley this Easter!
