Mental Health Forum – Sanctuary Conference

We are thrilled to share the incredible success of the Sanctuary Conference that took place on Friday, 24th November at Life Central Church in Halesowen. With a heartening turnout of 100 passionate participants, the event surpassed all expectations, leaving us inspired and motivated to continue championing positive mental health and well-being in churches and Christian communities.

We will have more events and services soon.

A Glimpse into the Conference:

From 9:30 am to 3:00 pm, Life Central Church buzzed with energy as attendees delved into thought-provoking discussions on crucial topics such as:

  1. How to be a ‘Mental Health Aware’ Church: Exploring practical ways to create church environments that foster mental health awareness and understanding.
  2. Mental Health Self-Care and Boundaries: Empowering individuals with tools for self-care and establishing healthy boundaries in the context of mental well-being.
  3. Navigating Mental Health Challenges Beyond Your Remit: Addressing the complex issue of dealing with mental health problems that extend beyond the immediate capabilities of a church community.

Special Guest Speaker: Betsy De Thierry:

The highlight of the conference was the insightful and inspiring talk by Betsy De Thierry, a nationally renowned Trauma Recovery Consultant and Psychotherapist, who also brings her unique perspective as a Church Leader.

The Love Black Country Team extends heartfelt thanks to Betsy for her impactful contribution.

Organized by Love Black Country’s Mental Health Forum:

The success of the conference is a testament to the dedication of the Mental Health Forum, initiated in March 2022. Concerns about mental health and well-being in the boroughs prompted the formation of this forum, now comprising eight individuals with diverse skills, motivations, and experiences.

Mission Accomplished: The conference not only celebrated its success but also marked a significant step toward fulfilling the forum’s mission:

“To encourage Christian communities to journey towards becoming sanctuaries of spiritual and emotional well-being.”

Next Steps: As we celebrate this achievement, we are excited about the future endeavors of the Mental Health Forum, continuing to provide resources and support for churches and Christian communities in their journey towards being sanctuaries of well-being.

Gratitude and Looking Forward: A big thank you to all 100 participants who made this day a resounding success! Your enthusiasm and commitment to building mentally healthy and supportive communities are truly commendable.

Stay tuned for future events and initiatives as we continue to make strides in creating sanctuaries of well-being. Together, we can make a lasting impact on the mental health landscape within churches and communities.
