Big Youth

Walsall's BIG Youth, which started in January 2017, exists to bring together Church Youth Groups from Walsall to grow in relationship with one another and in relationship with God. BIG Youth is part of Love Black Country and the Love Walsall network of churches.

The Vision

BIG Youth aims to serve the Church in Walsall in a number of ways:

  • to broaden young people's experience of God
  • to connect a generation of young Christians
  • to engage young people in churches without a youth ministry
  • to resource tired youth volunteers (!)

We do this once a month at events that are larger in scale, enabling smaller youth groups to do activities they might not normally, and we make space to worship God, to pray and to learn from God's Word in an environment where many of the young people feel comfortable to bring school friends.

Joint Christian Union (JCU)

JCU is the Walsall Schools Joint Christian Union. It is for secondary school students (11-18 years old).

It takes place on Wednesdays (term time only) from 4-6pm at the Crescent Baptist Church, WS1 2BX.

Big Youth Activities

Outside of lockdown, regular fixtures include a "Water Night", a "Banquet", a "Bonfire Party" and a "Team Challenge". All events are free to the young people.

Our next Big Youth Event will take place on Friday 7th October 2022 at Legacy Church, walsall, where we'll meet for some team games, worship and a talk.

If you are interested in finding out more, or know of young people (11-18) who might wish to attend a BIG Youth event, please get in touch with Hannah De la Hoyde, our Next Gen Champion for Love Walsall. You can email her at hannah@lovewalsall.org.uk
