On 2nd December, a government-initiated mass student exodus began across the country. Staggering the departure dates of thousands of students over a two week period would give them all time to potentially self-isolate before Christmas.

This mass Christmas student evacuation has become the inspiration behind the latest production of the Love Black Country Creative group called “Christmas Exodus”.

The short 4-minute film, which features an original song written by 16-year old Melody Williams from Netherton, follows the stories of 4 characters, each experiencing a very different kind of “home” due to Covid, but through the kindness of a shared neighbour, they are each reminded that Christmas is ultimately about God’s journey to find a home in our hearts.

Featuring the pandemic experiences of a student, a furloughed worker, a key worker and an old lady in isolation, the short film will be perfect to share on social media over the Christmas period, to remind friends and family that even in the strangest of Christmas circumstances, God is still with us. Immanuel.

Alongside the film itself, we have produced 4 short prayer videos, featuring the actors playing each part leading prayer for the characters they play: students, the unemployed, the isolated and key-workers. These prayer films can be used in your online church prayer meetings, your main church services or could even be shared on social media too.
