Comfort gifts delivered for victims of sexual violence.

A local organisation has been delivering comfort gifts to women who have been victims of sexual violence.

The initiative is being pioneered by Conforto, a Christian organisation based in Kingswinford, who work with victims of sexual violence to see them comforted, restored and empowered to become survivors.

Sarah Aston, who heads up Conforto, explains the vision behind the comfort gifts.

“We have been feeling a little restless over the past couple of weeks thinking about survivors of sexual violence who are struggling with isolation during lockdown and may have a lack of support at the moment. We thought it would be a lovely gesture to try and brighten the day of those who may be feeling alone by gifting them with comfort gifts full of goodies for survivors.”

So far, 14 women have got in touch with Conforto to request a comfort gifts, which contain both practical items and luxury pamper treats such as tote bags, reusable make up wipes, bath salts, sleep spray, coffee, lip balm, chocolate and an encouraging note from Conforto, amongst other things.

Any female over the age of 18 who has experienced sexual violence at any point in their life are eligible to request a comfort gift from Conforto by visiting www.conforto.org.uk/confortocare.
