Youth Events – Birmingham City Mission

You may be aware that the youth team of BCM offers provision for churches in their youth ministry. Here are a few such one’s coming up this year:

1.Youth Camp (12-18 August)

You are invited to bring a number of your young people to BCM’s Youth Camp this summer at the stunning coastal location of CMC Adventure, Snowdonia. The date is Saturday 12th to Friday 18th August 2023.

Would you click on this link to give you all the information you need about the camp https://tinyurl.com/BCM-Summer-Camp-2023

A key thing to mention is that while we call this a summer ‘camp’, we don’t sleep in tents but in dormitories, complete with our own communal living spaces.

We are looking for several small groups (of about 4/5 young people per group) to sign-up for the week. We are looking for a total number of around 25-30 young people (there will be around 12 trained BCM leaders).

The residential is primarily aimed at unchurched families and those from socio-economic disadvantage (or have an identifiable ‘need’ of some form). We do admit some churched young people yet we encourage them to come with a friend who perhaps doesn’t know about Jesus or who wouldn’t normally get chance to go on such a holiday.

Would you consider if any of your young people would be suitable for this event? To help with the sizeable cost we are asking churches to subsidise their group’s attendance, as they are able.

If your church isn’t in a position to bring young people to the residential would you consider sponsoring a young person? £50 would cover the deposit of 1 young person; £25 would cover a 1/2 deposit; £190 would cover the cost (that we charge families) for a place, and £384 would cover the entire cost of a place for a ‘camper’.  Could this be something that your church would look at?

Once you’ve spoken to selected parents you can ask them to fill in an initial form to express interest(which is also contained here https://forms.office.com/e/YB9Enpgz2G)  Let me know of your interest and if you have any questions.

  1. ‘Fulfil’ youth event: 10th March

You are also warmly invited to bring your young people to the next Fulfil youth event on 10th March at Mount Zion Community Church. Our guests will be band, ‘Peter 118’, acoustic guitarist, Daniel Murphy(of Life Central Church & ‘Limitless’) and Richard & Rachel Hendrikson, American missionaries and youth practitioners from The Gate Church. It would be helpful to us if groups can book in advance via https://tinyurl.com/book-fulfil-event

More info can be found attached and on the BCM website.

If you are new to ‘Fulfil’ see: ‘What’s Fulfil all about?https://youtu.be/rSPbPjyfvYQ  And you can get a taste of the event via previous events on our Youtube page (‘BCM Youth’) BCM Youth – YouTube

  1. Sleepout (24th Feb)

On Friday 24th February spend a night out in a cardboard box at BCM HQ to raise funds to support Birmingham’s homeless. Youth groups often attend. https://www.birminghamcitymission.org.uk/news/sleepout-2023

Also, see attached a flyer regarding ‘Teen Street’, a summer camp (a ministry of Operation Mobilisation) run by a fr
iend and ministry partner, Arnold Mabiala.

Finally, note that the next (monthly, Zoom) Youth Leaders Prayer Meeting is on Tuesday 21stFebruary at 8.00 lasting no more than an hour (message me for the log in details). It’s always on a Tuesday and the third full week of the month.  It is organised by Pastor Matthew Morrison, Youth Pastor of Life and Light Church Fellowship, Handsworth. It is for youth leader of all denominations to come together to simply pray for the youth of our city.
